• The latest update of this plugin has taken down two of my websites today!!!

Don’t use the 1.5.2 update unless you have a full backup. Its a great plugin however I really don’t understand how Joost de Valk and his team can do release that take down a how website like what this update does. I’m also running the latest versions of WordPress on both websites 3.8.1

  • Yes, same thing happened to me when I updated the plugin – the site went down/admin area too.
To fix, I had to log into the cpanel, and rename the plugin – this at least got the site back.
Will leave until the plugin author sorts out and won’t be upgrading it on any of our other sites.

Running latest WP; and server running latest php.

same here i lost pages pictures and content what a mess , this is nasty i have to restore my whole website from scratch.

Updated 4 sites, all seem ok “touch wood”

    Blank screen after update!
Big problem. Website still working from /wp-admin
After plugin deactivation when i’m trying to re-activate
    the system gives “fatal failure”.
I run dozens of websites with genesis framework and

Worst problem i faced with this plugin by years.

i hope is not the start a difficult trip caused by the new free/premium strategy!

(also next gen gallery plugin ruined a good work!)

    cheers,
    L.

From my experience with this plugin, posting on here never seems to get any replies or help.
Although mine appears to work, i think i may revert back to previous version for now

no issues other than the sitemap no longer working…just a lovely 404

Not found any issues yet apart from it disabling the menu in admin area when you are in the seo settings.
Glad i used duplicator to back all sites up before so atleast i can reinstall the sites if needed. For now i have renamed the folder wordpress-seo.rubbish and uploaded the backup folder of wordpress-seo with old version

Concur – latest plugin version is NOT COMPATIBLE with Genesis theme –
Site gives blank blog page and removes menus.

My experience is the problem affect only some child themes not all Genesis themes.

I have the same problem both with Free and Premium plugin.

Could you check whether your webhost has disabled the filter extension (which they shouldn’t disable) ? That is most likely the cause.

[rant]The filter extension is enabled by default since PHP 5.2 so it is perfectly ok for programmers to expect it to be available. If you have a crappy webhost which has actively disable it, well… what can I say ?[/rant]

Tested my sites the only issue i have found is the menu css, so i guess it is a hosting issue

Took one of mine down too… I tried reverting to the previous release; that was a no go as well.

    Going to check jrf’s suggestion

Update did not work for me either. Site works but get a WSD when trying to go to plugin page and no SEO on public side of site.

Deleted the 1.52. plugin folder and no luck with WSD on plugins page.

Uploaded old plugin folder and at least this restored everything back to old version and SEO is in place. Whew.

All: unless and until you give information to the developers which can help them debug, they can’t fix this.

There must be at least one of you who has a PHP error log enabled and if not, please have a look at these instructions on how you can log errors including a backtrace even with WP_DEBUG off. Having the error notices will help solve this and get a new version out which could fix this.

Thanks jrf. That is wise & good advice, glad you made this comment.
