The last rules update for the Wordfence Web Application Firewall was unsuccessful. The last successful update check was…

I keep seeing that error and dismissing it only works temporarily. What’s the fix?

  • Also having the same issue on multiple sites, and some panicky clients. Sites are all up to date plugins and WP core. NOne of the fixes worked for me either.

    Hello,
I have the same issue in my website as well. How to fix it please ? Thanks you

for me the problem is solved. I only waited for updates and did nothing basically.

Same problem with many of my sites.

Sites are all up to date plugins and WP core. Is there really no answer to this yet?

I have the same problem… but I see they have this marked a resolved? I tried everything noted above and still i can’t update rules and my rules file is still empty?

    Any other ides please?
    thanks!

I also have this problem, the message says
‘try to Manually Update by clicking the “Manually Refresh Rules” button below the Rules list.’

I’m unable to manually update because I can’t find this ‘Rules List’, where is it please?

I’m having the same problems, I have the current Version 7.3.5.

I had the same problem and did some digging (actually still have, need to wait for somebody to update the firewall).

Some findings: “Rules list” can be found at “All options -> Advanced Firewall options”. For me it said that it cannot update the rules list and I need to make sure I can access the wordfence servers (unfortunately without telling me where they are).

So if you have a firewall which blocks outgoing traffic, this might be a problem.

I did some more digging and the server which it uses to get the rules file from can be found in vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/init.php

    and in my case it’s

    https://noc4.wordfence.com/v1.8/

So this must be reachable from your server. I will find out soon I hope.

    Hope this helps.

For me, I have curl_exec in disable_functions of php.ini. Temporarily enabling it allows wordfence to download and update rules.php.

Having the same issue over here, all is up to date in my installations. I hope there will be a fix soon?

Same issue here…why is this marked as RESOLVED…it clearly isn’t and I haven’t seen anyone from WordFence chime in no?

Same problem here with one particular website only.

I have other WordPress sites on the same server without this problem.
I am using the latest version 7.4.1

Are there any updates or solution?

    Thank you

I have the same problem just in a multisite installation on my server. Other sites are ok. I have the latest version 7.4.2.

    Someone can help us?!!!
