I was able to solve the problem. I made small changes to the checkout/payment-method.php template, more specifically I turned the li element of each payment method into div elements and added some classes. All previous information remained there. Back to the default template everything works fine.

Thank you for sharing your workaround. When working with plugins’ or themes’ code, please be advised to work on a child theme or through a code plugin like Code Snippets to avoid losing your changes when updating.

Of course I didn’t make the changes directly to the plugin ?? For me this isn’t really a workaround. It works with the standard template. I just wanted to point out that even a small change like making divs out of li elements can lead to this problem. Normally the plugin should be able to handle that regardless of the element type?
