The id is repeated in shortcut

    Hello,

    I report just something I noticed on a site:

    When I use the shortcut to show the cookie_settings button, there are two time the same id in the page (in the disclaimer and in the page). Maybe this could be better to manage the button without the id attribute to avoid this.

    Version of WordPress: 5.8
    Version of GDPR Cookie Consent plugin : 2.3.6

    It looks like this applies to free version (2.0.6) too, W3C validator returns error: duplicate ID “cookie_action_close_header”.

    Hi @clipb,

    We haven’t added any IDs to the cookie settings button. Could you please clear the site cache and check again via the validator. Also, share the site URL.

    Thanks for the reply, “#cookie_action_close_header” is present in output of [cookie_button] shortcode, which I had by mistake in two places. For me removing one of them is fine and solves the issue.

    Yes, I confirm that I have IDs on my website too.
    You can see one of them in the following screenshot:

    This ID is related to the cookie_settings button (when I use the shortcut to show it).

    @lowick in the free version of the plugin I don’t have id attribute at all in the output of [cookie_settings] shortcode, but I agree that, if there’s reason to use shortcode multiple times, it will be better to avoid using IDs.

    Hi @lowick.

    We understand your concern, but since there could be other users using this ID to make their own style customisation, we cannot remove it from the plugin.

    Yes, I understand that this is complicated to remove this now. (Maybe later with a future major release).
