the great -this-file-does-not-exist.php” mystery (with some //posts.php)
-
something somewhere on the interwebs is triggering several, massive, thousand requests a day for a file called this-file-does-not-exist.php to a K2, latest version blog hosted at mediatemple.
that file as his name clearly indicates did not exist.
Massive 404 errors, server nearly melting… I created a small file by that name to cool down the server. These requests are not going away and neither are another bunch o frequests for a “//posts.php” (the “//” is not a typo, at least not here)
Is there a plugin – or something, anything – that can trigger this ?
two changes I made at the time the errors started to fhow up in the log files are :
– install a now deactivased ajax plugin.
– putting adsense on some but not all of my postsany clue ? any usual suspects ?
many thanks in advance!
