• First the good:
    1) the calculator is easy to build, and functions well. it has saved me many hours of development (I usually use php based form builders for this work). In that way – 5/5 – excellent.
    2) The support is very good – polite and timely and again 5/5.

    Now the Bad
There is only one bad thing we have encountered thus far, but it’s important: We design websites that must work across all platforms, mobile and desktop. This calculator does not work with older iPhones. Therefore, we cannot use it as an offering to our customers because millions of people (like me) still have iPhone 6’s.
It works just fine on a iPhone12 (which we also have) and we are waiting for a response from the calculator designers as to what is the oldest compatible technology. We find this disappointing.

It would have been great to give the product a 5/5 because we really like it, but we can’t, and we now need to find another option for our customers’ websites.

    Hello dear @keithrowley!

Thank you for your warm words we do appreciate it and it really motivates our team to keep continue to improve and include additional key features to our Cost Calculator plugin!

According to the iPhone 6 models restriction. Let us explain, the Cost Calculator is a recently developed WordPress plugin that contains modern frameworks in order to support all the nowadays gadgets. The Cost Calculator was developed with Vue.js and the framework is modern as well, while the iPhone 6 series is much older than the framework, in general, that is used in our Cost Calculator plugin. Even Apple company doesn’t provide a newer iOS versions for the iPhone 6 link. The issue comes from the outdated iOS system of the iPhone 6 in general. Our developers will try to find alternative solutions for such kind of outdated systems. However, this kind of research would require much more time and resources. If there will be any possible alternatives and resolutions our developers’ team will include them within the future updates, in order to make happy our dear users like you. However, we are not able to guarantee whether the Cost Calculator will support outdated iOS in the future or not in general

    All the best wishes

Thank you so much for your reply; I very much appreciate your honest and concise response. If I was running your development team I would also do a cost-benefit analysis to determine whether or not such backwards compatibility is worthwhile.

My problem (which is not your problem!) is making sure that when I state that our websites work on mobiles, I don’t mislead anyone.

PS: In 2017, 63% of all iPhones ever sold were still in use.

Love your product and fantastic support and I shall have no reservation in re-selling it on customer websites with the caveat of informing customers of the old technology restrictions.

    have a great day
    keith
