    Hello there,

I cannot update the plugin since version 5.10.0. I always get the error “update failed: No connection or server is busy. Try again later.”

I’ve already tried enabling auto-update (which only worked once) and my hosting provider cannot help me locate the problem.

I can try to update via FTP but I’m afraid of losing all the events I already have configured. Can you help me find out what’s going on? This is the best events plugin I’ve found and I didn’t want to stop using it.

My site is https://isasp.org.br/. I also have another one with the same plugins (https://isarj.org.br/) but on this other site I have no problem updating the events calendar. And the hosting provider is the same.

I really hope you guys can help me since I don’t have developer knowledge.

    Thanks!

  • Hey there @thaisf

    Thank you for reaching out!
Would you mind trying to manually update again?

Do you have the same issue with other plugins?
It sounds like something is blocking the update on your site.

Normally, deleting the plugin and reinstalling it from scratch should be seamless (aka that should not delete your events).

With that in mind, it’s always a good idea to make a backup of your site first (either using a backup plugin or an option from your web host).

TL;DR if the problem persists, backup your site, delete The Events Calendar and reinstall it from scratch.

Let us know how that goes,
    Geoff

    Hello Geoff,

Thank you so much for your reply!

I just tried to update manually but I couldn’t. I have no problems with any other plugin. I even use the events calendar on another site on the same provider and I don’t find any problems in updating.

Honestly I’m afraid to delete the plugin and install it again. What if the new installation also fails? Because now, even though I can’t update, I’m able to create new events without problems.

I really have no idea where this blockage might be :-S

    Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Deleting and re-installing the plugin or manually updating via FTP shouldn’t affect the events you’ve created on your website as they will still be there after the re-installation.

If you are worried, about data loss, you can make a backup to prevent the worst-case scenario.

    Best regards,

    Marho

    Hello Marho,

Thanks for the reply! I made a backup and manually updated the plugin. It worked just fine!

I hope I don’t have the same problem again :-S

I also would like to thank Geoff so much for the support.
