I’m having the same problem as the author of the previous “Authentication failure” topic. I waited a few days to find out if the author was going to update or not.

I see that there is no message from the author on the support. I read this post on the official site: https://www.joedolson.com/2023/02/wp-to-twitter-wp-tweets-pro-and-twitters-new-api-policies/

The outage is explained by the fact that the API is now paying since a few days as announced by Musk. As the price is very high, many free extensions have stopped working, which is why some humorous bot-based accounts are no longer updated. It seems that WP TO TWITTER has also been affected for a few days now.

The author indicates on the post shared above that he would not pay for the API. If the author sees this message, can you confirm the end of the extension? Indeed, as a security measure, we shouldn’t keep an out-of-date extension on our wordpress, even when it’s deactivated. I’d be grateful if you could let us know. Anyway, thank you for your extension, it’s been very useful. I understand perfectly that you don’t want to pay for the API, you’re right. But please let us know what happens. Thank you.

I’ll continue to make basic updates – security and compatibility with WP or PHP. However, I won’t be making any functionality updates moving forward.

But the Twitter API is too unpredictable and the documentation is not reliable at this point, so I’m not going to put a lot of work into that. As far as I can tell, everything still works at this point, but there is a significantly higher rate of App suspensions coming from Twitter and a higher rate of failures in API queries.

This means I’m spending more time on support but all I can tell people is that the problem is at Twitter and I have no more information than they do.

Hello, thank you for this information and I fully understand your situation.

Use WP Twitter Auto Publish. It still works with the same endpoints.

(Also a longterm user that came back when Jetpack dropped support, so shame to see WP To Twitter go also)
