The editor is unable to find a block template for the homepage.

  • Fresh install wordpress 5.9.2. Installed in its own directory (/wordpress/), multi-site. No plugins installed. As fresh as you can get the install.

    Not able to edit/customize “Twenty Twenty-Two” theme. Whenever clicking on customize, the error “The editor is unable to find a block template for the homepage.” appears.

    So far unable to use the template.

    Why did this mod recommend that link as a solution? That link doesn’t provide any solution, but was closed by an inept mod because somebody else chimed in to say they too are having the same issue. If you cannot read and comprehend English, mod the posts that are in your language. This is how you kill a platform.

    As @wearebadmofos mentions that link does not provide an solution at all. 1 month 3 weeks later the issue is still with fresh install. What I did get from the link was that the issue might be caused by a difference in the Site URL and the WordPress URL – i.e. WordPress is installed in a subdirectory.
    This is a normal function of WordPress, so I don’t know why it wouldn’t work.
    It seems that no-one at WordPress cares or bothers to solve this. Will not use this theme.

    @jtuinstra Yes, it is ridiculous that this is still an issue. All of my WordPress sites are in subdirectories (the right way to do it, imo).

    The workaround I found:
    When viewing the homepage, instead of clicking “Customize” (Recently changed to “Edit site”) click on “Edit Page”
    When the page editor opens, on the right side there is a Template section.
    Click “Edit”
    This will allow you to edit the template.
