    Hello Support,

Since the update yesterday to Version 1.15.0 we started getting errors on every story creation.

    This is the error messege:

    “Something went wrong!
The editor has crashed. Please try reloading the page and report the error using the button below.
    Apologies for the inconvenience.”

This happens in the middle of the story creation and you cannot work on it anymore.
We tried duplicating it and working on the duplicated mt it is the same.

    Please assist.
Let me know what additional information I can provide.

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Yes, all existing and new stories.
    2. Yes.
    3. Yes, you can see it here (this is while using a Chrome incognito window).

@shai347 thanks for the information. So that we can look into this further for you would you please be able to provide your Site Health information or You can share privately if you prefer by filling out this form.

Once I have that information I can run some more checks for you to see if anything stands out that could cause this.

In the meantime would you be able to perform the steps below to see if this is being caused by a plugin or theme conflict:

Use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely because it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.

    • Please enable the Web Stories plugin and let me know if the issue is present.
    • Enabling plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.
    • Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Hey @adamdunnage,

I just submitted an updated site health throw the form.

I’m sorry but I won’t be able to perform the plugins test, this is my production website. I had enough issues this week and lost many hours of work.

There’s another issue we have noticed on version 1.15.1.
At many times but not all of the times, text boxes cannot be edited.
You can move the box and delete it but if you want to edit the text inside the box, it’s not possible. It freezes, and gets stuck.

When I rolled back to version 14, all my templates were there and everything was fine.

@shai347 Apologies for the delay on this one. We are still looking into this and running tests and will update you further as soon as we can.

@shai347 Hi there! To help with our testing, are you able to share your site URL and the name of your hosting provider and which package you are on with them? You can share that info privately via this form if you prefer.

I’m sorry but I won’t be able to perform the plugins test, this is my production website. I had enough issues this week and lost many hours of work.

100% understood that this has been and continues to be a time-consuming process, so thank you for hanging in with us. We haven’t received any other reports of these particular errors, so that makes things trickier for everyone.

One thing to clarify, if you do have time to work through troubleshooting mode as Adam suggested: turning plugins on/off in troubleshooting mode has no impact on the front-end of your site and what your visitors see. It only affects the back-end of your site, which is why it’s a very useful tool for trying to find the root cause of issues like the ones that you’re seeing.

    Hey @adamdunnage and @shetheliving,

So we have been working with version 1.15.1 for several days now and so far we have noticed three issues with it:

    1. All the saved templates are not visible in the editor — new and old.
    2. Text boxes — we have a hard time editing them.
    3. Animations are not working on the first page of the story (cover page) — I shared a story for example through the form, just now.
In that story there’s an animation of a pen right at the background of the cover.

My website is hosted on Google Cloud VM.

    Thanks for these details, @shai347.

    1. All the saved templates are not visible in the editor — new and old.

This is the issue that we’re having a really hard time replicating, which makes us believe it’s occurring due to some kind of conflict between Web Stories and something else that’s part of your site – hosting, plugins, or theme, for example. I know it’s time-consuming and frustrating, but if you do have time to try the troubleshooting steps below, I think it will help us identify the issue here. Unfortunately we’re not able to do this for you as we are not allowed to access your site.

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin
    2. In WordPress admin, go to Plugins and click Troubleshoot to enable Troubleshooting Mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely; this will not affect what your site visitors see, as it only changes the look and feel of your website for logged-in administrators.
    3. On the Troubleshooting Mode page, under Web Stories, click Enable while troubleshooting
    4. Try editing a story and go to Templates > Saved Templates and see if your templates are there
    5. If the issue does not occur while in Troubleshooting Mode, re-enable your site’s plugins one-by-one by clicking Enable while Troubleshooting for each and checking the story again. This can help us pinpoint if a particular plugin or theme is causing the issue.

    2. Text boxes — we have a hard time editing them.

We have another report of this issue that we’re investigating. Can you tell me what browser you’re experiencing this issue in?

    3. Animations are not working on the first page of the story (cover page) — I shared a story for example through the form, just now.
In that story there’s an animation of a pen right at the background of the cover.

Disabling animations on the first page is part of an ongoing experiment in order to measure performance improvements, as noted in this issue: https://github.com/google/web-stories-wp/issues/9987. It will be running until at least the beginning of January. Afterwards, it might get turned off again, or perhaps even become a permanent change. In the latter case, we would of course provide a plugin update and accompanying guidance accordingly.

Let me know if you have any questions on any of this!

As we haven’t received a response, I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!

@shai347 Just reaching out to let you know that there is a new version of Web Stories. We would recommend updating to the latest version. Please do let us know if your issue has since been fixed or if the update fixes for you.

    Hey @adamdunnage,

    Thank you for the update.

I have just updated to the latest version yesterday and it seems that the text boxes issue is resolved.
Unfortunately, I still can’t see all my saved page templates or create new ones.

In general, the new version seems to run smoother and faster.

@shai347 Thanks for following up! I’m sorry to hear that updating the plugin didn’t fix this issue for you.

As noted above, we’re having a really hard time replicating the same problem that you’re encountering, which makes us believe it’s occurring due to some kind of conflict between Web Stories and something else that’s part of your site – hosting, plugins, or theme, for example. If you do have some time to go through the troubleshooting steps I outlined in this comment, it may help us understand if a particular plugin is conflicting with Web Stories.

    Hey Guys,

I just wanted to update that the templates issue is resolved in version 1.19.0.

All the templates I had before showed up on the latest version and I can save new templates again.

Thank you. We appreciate the follow up @shai347 !
