    Hi,

I have the default WordPress admin toolbar enabled on my blog and I am an Admin.

Some of the links across the top of the toolbar read: ‘New’, ‘View Page’ and ‘Site Kit’, but there used to be an ‘Edit’ there too. It has disappeared.

I can still edit my pages/posts by searching for them in the left nav bar, and clicking edit, but the top link was obviously much faster.

How do I get it back, please?

I asked ChatGPT and tried about ten things, but nothing worked.

    I have not changed theme.

    Regards,

    Owen

The availability of the Edit button in the admin bar does not vary depending on the theme.

With that said, the fact that it’s missing on the front-end, but working on the back-end, may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to deactivate all plugins and switch to the default Twenty Twenty-Three theme. If the problem goes away, re-activate them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to deactivate all plugins and change the theme for you while you’re still logged in without affecting normal visitors to your site.
