Today I had recently purchased the domain name https://acnesecrets.org from namecheap.com, and am hosting it using hostgator. As you can see, it is accessible. I have also installed wordpress the website using “Fantastico De Luxe” from the hostgator control panel.

However, when I try and access my administrative part of the website at https://www.acnesecrets.org/wp-admin/, I am confronted with the following message.

    “The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network
    connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Pale Moon is permitted to access the Web.”

I have already tried accessing it with my Microsoft Security Essentials disabled, and tried to access it with Google Chrome, instead getting this error”

    “No data received
Unable to load the web page because the server sent no data.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this web page later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.”

Any ideas on how I would be able to access my admin? Do I need to wait longer? Is it a problem with cheapname or hostgator?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Got it fixed. To any of you having this problem with hostgator, check out the section of the site where you can chat with someone from the site who can help you out.

    Hi,

I have the same issue with my host, OVH.

Could you tell me more about what your host did to fix it ?

    thanks a lot !

Are you sure this is a hostgator issue and not something more to do with what you have done on your WP – I am suddenly getting this same thing on my development platform offline – on localhost.

Trying to make an embedded SQL script work before this (may be conincidence) but now the page is inaccessible. I dont why as yet the rest of the site is OK.

    Hi,

Do know a way to check this. It seems there is no tool to do debug or performances checkings…

I just changed my hosting because of these problems… This has solved them.

Not quite got to the bottom of this yet but I do now know what is causing it in my case. On another post someone was saying that extra whitespace at the end of the functions.php file had caused his similar issue. This put the obvious thoughts back in my mind as I had been editing functions.php immediately before the problem occured.

For me this has definitely been the cause – restored previous functions.php – hey presto problem has gone away!

However I now have a new problem as I cant see why the particular edit that I have isolated as the cause is in fact the problem.

It is an alteration to an embedded sql script.
I started this in another thread as it is perhaps more to do with the script than WP functionality or the hosting provider.
