The confirmation text in confirmation mails ignores shortcodes and html…

Trying to customize the mails sent out by woocommerce 5.0.0 we run into the weird problem that none of the text fields accept any HTML code like <br>.

Also most fileds accept shortcodes like {site_url} but the confirmation text of the order confimation mail does not.

It just shows <br> and {site_url} in the mail reaching the customer.

I disabled every bit of WPML (the usual suspect) but got no change…

Now I am completely lost, not even knowing how to proceed!

Any ideas?

Oh, this is WordPress 5.6.2 with woocommerce 5.0.0 – everything else is working fine, just a denial of shortcodes…
