The Comments Don’t Work!!

  • I’ve installed WordPress as I was recommended it by a friend.

    The first post I did allowed comments.

    Since then non of my friends are able to leave comments on posts – they fill in message and press submit – and get taken to the “wp-comments-post.php” page – where then nothing happens and it’s just a blank screen!?

    I know nothing of php and I have not attempted to edit any of the scripts – so that’s not the cause.

    I’ve also tried doing it with the firewall/privacy control all turned off ( as I thought that may be blocking it ) but still no luck..

    Anyone else had any similar problems with their installation?

    Please help me!!

  • Is the problem that YOU can leave comments but your friends can’t? Or is it that only the first post allowed comments and now no comments are possible?

    I have exactly the same problem. I’m using WP 2.0.2 which comes with iPowerWeb’s web hosting service. I have two blogs using two different themes I got from the WP site.

    It seems that I tested it once and the comment worked. I deleted the comment from the admin dashboard and assumed it all worked. But neither I nor anyone else can leave comments.

    The symptoms are the same as CoBo1.

    It’s frustrating to advertise the site and have this happen.

    Can anyone help?

    I figured out the problem by trial and error. On the Options > Discussion page, uncheck the box at the bottom “Blacklist comments from open and insecure proxies.”
