The comment system is about to drive me insane

  • First, the amount of spam that I receive via the comments form is unreal. I get hundred’s per day. Obviously I have it set to where I have to moderate those types of messages. But in the past 3 or 4 days I’ve had a new problem. Despite me changing no preferences at all, ALL comments get put into moderation and I get an e-mail when ANY comment is made. Any ideas?

    Okay, great. That will help with the spam problem. But what about the issue with EVERYTHING getting moderated all of the sudden and me getting e-mailed for EVERY comment even though I don’t have that option checked?

    You might have a blank line somewhere in your Spam Words list. Double-check it.

    And (as always), double-double-check your moderation settings ??

    I used to have email-for-moderation switched on, then disabled it when the flood of spam started.

    I’m using WPBlacklist, which is a life-saver.

    However, the emails never stopped coming. The only way to stop them is to enter a bad email for admin.

    this is for sites running 1.2 and 1.2.1. I don’t think I’ve upgraded to 1.2.2 yet **embarrassed**

    Ah ha…RustIndy hit the nail on the head I believe. I had 2 blank lines in my Spam Words list. Doh!
