  • Hi @jackhuangstar,

We can see that you’ve two different URLs but serving same content here. Ideally, duplicate content is content which is available on multiple URLs on the web. Because more than one URL shows the same content, search engines don’t know which URL to list higher in the search results. Therefore they might rank both URLs lower and give preference to other webpages.

Please refer to this article Duplicate content: Causes and solutions for more clear insight on its SEO impact and solutions.

    Hi, Suwash,

Thanks for your reply. But I don’t think you fully understand my question. The first URL https://ballmillssupplier.com/category/solutions/ is the default URL of the category archive page. This URL is what it should be according to my Permalink setting for the category page. It has no problem.

But the second one https://ballmillssupplier.com/solutions/ is very strange: it is not a page that I created. There is no such a page in my WordPress dashboard – page / post. I don’t know how it is generated. Because I think WordPress will not generate two URLs for the same category archive.

I have the Yoast SEO installed, but I don’t know if this is caused by this plugin, but it is my best guess. So I asked.

I know the duplicated content issue very well. Thanks for your explanation but that’s not what I asked.

    Hi @jackhuangstar,

Sorry for the confusion. Can you please temporarily deactivate the Yoast SEO plugin and check if the second URL still exists? We do not expect Yoast SEO would auto-create duplicate URLs nor content.

If still the issue exists, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.
