I have set WooCommerce to cancel any uncompleted orders after 60 minutes, but the cart never empties itself even hereafter. Can anyone explain if there is a way to do this and if the current setup means that it’s possible for others to buy that product (let’s say there was only 1 in stock left). My concern is if abandoned carts are withholding the product item’s stock indefinitely so others cannot buy.

  • You are mean unpaid orders or abandoned carts? That are two different things.

If you’ve set the Hold Stock option to 60 minutes, then the counter starts from when the customer adds the product to the cart – in effect, the product in the cart is removed from the available stock for that period. If the customer doesn’t complete payment within that 60 minutes, then the product may very well still be in the cart, but the stock has been released for someone else.

The product will stay in the cart until the session expires, but the stock reserve ends after those 60 minutes.

I hope that clears things up for you!
