    After Akismet started giving me troubles, not catching a lot of spam, then telling me my API code was invalid(!) I went looking for another plugin. Based on the excellent reviews I chose this one, and I have not been disappointed! This is THE BEST anti-spam plugin I have tried (and I have tried more than just Akismet). I’m grateful to Akismet for giving me the incentive to try something different. Whereas I had a long blacklist in Akismet and was still getting spam slipping through, I have started out with no blacklist in WP-SpamShield and it is doing a fine job of catching spam. It even stops spambots from harvesting the emails on your site.
