Hi, whenever I try to upload an image using the add media button, I am getting this error – ‘Sorry, you are not allowed to attach files to this post’. I can’t seem to find a solution. I’d really appreciate your help. Thanks!

    Hi kasidya,

Glad to help. I’m not sure what might be happening, but here is some related information that may be useful for you:

    – USP does not include any error message that says, “Sorry, you are not allowed to attach files to this post”. So the message must be coming from some other source (like for example, another plugin, the theme, or maybe WP itself).

    – Not sure where the error is coming from, but it sounds like there may be an issue with user roles and/or capabilities. So that is something to check as well.

If you let me know where you are seeing that particular error, it may shed some more light on the issue. Please let me know if I can provide any further infos, glad to help however possible.

Hi Jeff, thank you so much for replying so soon. Yes, it’s definitely some role/capabilities issue. I changed the roles and found out that only ‘Admin’ and ‘Editor’ are able to upload images. However, I gave all the capabilities of ‘editor’ to the current role ‘member’ and its still giving me the same error. Don’t know where to go from here. Hope you can give me some further information regarding this.

    Thanks!

    Hi kasidya,

Glad to help. Honestly it all depends on context, all of the other things you’ve got going on with the site, like plugins, theme, functions, et al. So it is almost impossible to just guess at what might be happening in any given case.

Also, as explained in my previous post, the error message you are seeing is not something provided by USP. So most likely the issue has something to do with whatever is displaying the error. My best advice is to either find a developer who can take a closer look and try to help, and/or do some basic troubleshooting to determine the source of the conflict.

As always, please let me know if I may provide any further infos about the plugin, glad to help however possible.
