    Hi folks,
I’m getting the problem of spammers posting comments on entries that I haven’t even written yet. I’ve deleted the future comments that are there at the moment, and I wanted to install TG’s code to stop it happening again (as described here: https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/spam/). However, when I altered the wp-comments-post.php file and uploaded it, it stopped working. It just gives a blank page when you try to post a comment.
Anybody else have a similar problem?
    Cheers.

Check if you have an extra blank space/line before the <?php at the top or after the ?> at the end in the file you edited.
If you edited the file using Cpanel’s editor, then you will have a blank line at the end. Use wordpad instead.

I did use WordPad, but there may well have been a blank space. I’ll check. Thanks!

Hmm, just went back into wordpad and took the blank spaces out, and it’s still doing the same thing.

Did you go into your database and delete the spam comments that were all ready there? https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/spam/#imm TG’s code only stops bots from adding spam comments to non existent posts, it doesn’t disable that spam that has all ready been added.

Yes, I already did that, then I thought I’d better add TG’s code to stop them from doing it again…
    Bloody spammers.
