  • Hi @myeternaltrails,

I see what you mean, the featured image isn’t loading for that post or any of the others. The image file is being output in the code but it isn’t visible on the site itself. I haven’t been able to replicate this behaviour on my own site though, which points to something specific to your site.

Could you try deactivating any image related plugins to see if that makes a difference? For example, image caching, galleries, slideshows, optimisation etc.

Let me know how you get on.

Hi Gemma, Yes, you were right. As soon as I deactivated a plugin BJ Lazy Load, featured images started loading at both the places.
Do you think it’s a problem with Textbook which can be solved ? or I have to live by compromising on this.

Many thanks for your suggestion !

    Hi @myeternaltrails,

That’s great to hear! Would you be able deactivate BJ Lazy Load again, then install the Jetpack plugin (there is a free plan) and try activating their Lazy Images feature?

    https://jetpack.com/support/lazy-images/

This should tell us whether the issue is specific to BJ Lazy Load or whether featured images on Textbook are affected by all lazy load plugins — which would indicate a possible theme issue.

    Hi Gemma,

I am already using Jetpack with Lazy Image feature turned ON. and Featured images are getting loaded perfectly.
So, probably issue is only with BJ Lazy Load.

    Hi @myeternaltrails,

I am already using Jetpack with Lazy Image feature turned ON.

Were you using Jetpack’s Lazy Images feature in addition to BJ Lazy Load? If so, that could have been part of the problem — as two plugins would have been trying to load the image at the same time.

    Hi Gemma,

I think yes, that could be the reason. And unfortunately I can’t verify this by activating BJ Lazy Load alone without Jetpack, because deactivating Jetpack removes the featured image feature.
So, I think I am good for now on this.

But, can you help on another query of similar issue? Here I am not able to see featured image on other pages such as About. For example on page at below URL, I’ve set a featured image, but it doesn’t show up.

    Hi @myeternaltrails,

If you are already using Jetpack Lazy Images, there won’t be any need to use a separate plugin for lazy load functionality ??

I am not able to see featured image on other pages such as About.

Since the other issue was resolved by deactivating a specific plugin, can you check whether the featured image is displayed on that page after doing the same thing? Let me know whether that makes any difference and we can go from there.

    Hi Gemma,

Thanks, I had already removed the other Plugin for Lazy Load. And unfortunately I’ve never seen the featured images being displayed on specific pages, even after removing the plugin.

    Hi @myeternaltrails,

I’ve never seen the featured images being displayed on specific pages

I looked into this further and featured images not being displayed on pages is intended behaviour for the Textbook theme. So what you are seeing on pages isn’t the result of a bug or plugin conflict.

The plugin issue for posts was throwing my expectations for where featured images should be displayed but we’ve got to the bottom of it now.

I hope this clears things up.

    Hi Gemma!

Thank you so much for your consistent help. All Clear now ??

You’re very welcome, glad I could help out ??
