Text widget won't send image to external url

I have a couple of images that I want to send to an external url.

I have never had this issue before. The img source is coming from the site and the link to url is an outside url but when clicked, it just shows the image in a blank page (as though the img src & link url are the same still).

I have deactivated all plugins with no luck. Any ideas what I should do with this?

Using the free Expound theme from WP repository.
