Text search boxes require extra click

    I regularly create orders through the admin page and after a recent WordPress/WooCommerce update, the typing in text/search fields broke. I used to be able to just start typing when the field was highlighted, but now I have to click on the field, then click on the text area to input anything. This substantially slows manual order input.

    I got feedback from a WordPress ticket on this. This issue occurs with both WooCommerce 5.5.1 and 5.6.0 on WordPress 5.8. It works correctly on both WC versions on WP 5.7.2. So this seems to be an issue of compatibility between WC and WP 5.8.

    That’s correct, you click to open the search field and then type 3 or more characters to search the product. This is the default behavior and there is no out of the box function to change this in WooCommerce. For customization, I can recommend reaching out to a developer locally or to someone from our customizations page https://woocommerce.com/customizations/

    No, that is the NEW behavior. I used to be able to click on the field and immediately start typing to search. Now, I have to click on the field, AND click in the text input to be able to type. This changed with the update to WP 5.8 and is not the behavior observed for years before this. If this is truly the new expected behavior, it needs to be changed back as it is a significant hindrance to manual order input as well as admin searching elsewhere. Please note, this is not just on the product entry box, but ALL similar input boxes, including user/customer name, etc.
