Text outside paragraph tags

First up, I’d like to say just how great this plugin is. I’ve been playing with it for a project I am working on and it really is brilliant. Thank you so much!

I have a small thing I am hoping there’s a simple answer for…

I am finding that the first paragraph of any email sent in sits outside the p tag, so it looks like this:

 <div dir="auto">
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Donec eleifend, nisl vel congue fringilla, lorem libero porta nibh, a hendrerit nisi magna eget enim. 
<p></p>

The paragraphs following are fine and are nested in the p tags.

Any idea what’s causing this? This is killing the text styling for the first section of any post submitted.
