• Before in version 4.0, while in Full Screen mode, I was able to toggle between text and visual mode (so I can make sure my links and images showed up as they should), but it seems in 4.1 that has been removed and now in order to get to text, I have to be out of the full screen (in fact, when selecting text, the option to go into full screen mode goes away).

Am I missing something or has it been removed? This adds more (unnecessary) work on my part as the current way the window space is so small.

  • I tested the new distraction free writing mode in WordPress 4.1 and I see the Visual and Text editor choices. When you say it goes away, does it fade away when you start typing?

It’s not the distraction free one, it’s when in fullscreen mode.

Here are a few screen caps. The first is what I see when “Visual” is selected:

The next is when “Text” is selected. Note that the option to go to Fullscreen is gone:

And the last is the options while in fullscreen mode (again, only available while “Visual” tab is selected):

In the previous version, I was able to select “Text” while in Fullscreen.

Are you using a plugin that adds or enhances the post editor because I don’t see a Full Screen button on a fresh install of WordPress? If so, you’ll need to contact that plugin’s author and let them know of the bug you discovered.
