I’m looking for a workaround to present business references. Some trials I made and questions I have:

    trial 1:
all references in one page or post
-> not userfriendly, I would like to have an option for filtering or categorizing

    trial 2:
    using a portfolio plugin
-> all portfolio plugins I tried use images, I have text

    trial 3:
each reference in a single post
-> ok, can be filtered by category or by tags, but …

    questions:
    – is there a better solution than my trial no. 3?
    – does anyone know a plugin for a text-only portfolio?
    – should I experiment with the theme design or with templates?

    Hey,

So you say about trial 3:

-> ok, can be filtered by category or by tags, but …

but you dont explain what you dont like about it, and you say it is ok.

We can help you more if you explain what you dont like about it.

In any case, I imagine you may have this issue:

if you use post/page for references, then you have normal (non-reference) post/pages and some reference post/pages. It is hard to separate them since they will all show up in the Posts list or Pages list.

The best solution for this is not to experiment with themes or templates, but to create a custom post type.

You could call the custom post type “reference” and add fields to it if you like such as Name, Location, Title, Company, etc.

Sorry for my incomplete post, your imagination is correct. I played with custom post types and taxonomies, probably this is the solution I was looking for. Thanks!

Glad I could help. Further success!
