text NEXT to image not below image

Got a problem. Put an image on a page that is half the total column width, and want to put a block of text NEXT to it to fill the other 1/2 of the column width.
But as it is, the text comes out in a line at the bottom of the image and below it, like Microsoft Word does, as if the whole image is just one line of text.
So here’s my question:
How do I put a block of text NEXT to an image? (I hope, without having to write child themes and learn how to edit CSS or whatever?)
