    Hi Ben,

I’m back! I recently updated the plug in and I’m not seeing the text showing up on my page.

When I click the box it only shows: https://wp.me/paHEx6-6Z via @cheapandcheeky and not the text I entered.

Can you please look at it?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi there! Can you paste the short code you are using in your reply here?

Normally when the text is not showing up, it’s because you used additional quotation marks in the tweet attribute of the short code itself.

In order to use quotation marks within the Tweet text, you need to use the HTML entity code for quotation marks instead of using the quotation marks themselves.

Either way, I’m happy to help!

Hi, I”m having the same issue. I am not doing anything different than I ever do and for some reason the text is not showing up. I am not using quotation marks. The only change we’ve made recently was last night when we updated to PHP 7.3 – but all of the previous CTT quotes are holding fine in all our earlier posts. Thoughts?

We figured it out… it was the use of “quotes” within the sentence we were BCTT quoting. It confused the system. Our developer says “they should be able to parse the double-quotes when you enter the text and should handle it differently when it gets generated into the shortcode (similar to the way they turn the ampersand into & ).

Just passing that along if that’s helpful. But now we know!

Thanks for the note from the developer. If they have a fix for this issue (I’ve tried a few over the years, and the fact that it has to be double-encrypted—once for the send-it-to-the-post step, and again for the send-it-to-twitter step—means that when I try to escape it for one it breaks it for the other.)

PRs are welcomed on GitHub at https://github.com/benunc/better-click-to-tweet

    Thanks!

You also can not “cut and paste” a section of the quote, without the text becoming invisible. No “quotes” involved. You have to type it out.
