Text format not "sticking"

Ok, no idea how to handle this on my end so hopefully one of you folks have a suggestion. A developer sorta half built a site for my seo client. They didn’t move the content as they were supposed to, so I am doing it. I am moving it over, setting font color to black, updating the pages and looking at them. Half the text is in the default pale gray color. i have been having to go in, change to in-line styles, save them go look and parts of it are still gray, OR they will be all black and then an hour later part of it is gray again.
On the front page, I set everything up as block style print, running the text through notepad. I will look at it and it is fine, then an hour later is indented paragraph text again. That happened 8 times between 5 pm yesterday and 4 am today. I have never been so frustrated in my life. I really need help here.
