Text Editor Problems With Update

  • Client brought some issues to my attention this morning. Updates are all current (WP 4.81 / GeneratePress 1.4 / Elementor 1.59 / Pro 1.64 / WP Fastest Cache turned off and purged).

    Issues are with the text widget and text editor.

    Footer text widget disappeared completely.

    Text editor has screwed up all the text boxes, which were set to the the Text tab and contained non-breaking spaces and paragraph tags. It defaults to Visual tab now and all “&nbsp” and “<p>” are gone, when selecting back to the Text tab.

    The layout also renders with an “?” between many of the words, including some that did not have any non-breaking spaces between them.

    Edit: Going back through the site it also seems that apostrophes “‘” cause these characters “Ka€” to appear instead. And noticed the Title and Tagline were missing from Customizer.

    To be fair, I can’t say if all of these are Elementor related, though the text issues may be, as per the TinyMCE fix in 1.63.
