The reason the chat is not included in the embedded version, is that it would take up way to much space. As you say, when you are multiple participants, an embdedded room quickly gets crowded. We agree that it should still be possible to have text chat, so we’ll look into how we can fix that. Maybe it can be a separate module that you can get from the API, so you can included it on the side of the room.
So, it may be available in the future. It would certainly make a nice addition! Let me know if you need any additional assistance.
