Text-Based (Non-Menu) Modal Hook/Trigger

Hi, Zane. Many thanks for your work on this plugin. I’m considering the pro version but have a quick question/feature request.
How would one trigger the modal dialog with HTML in the text of a page/post/widget instead of relying on the menu functionality? For example:
<a href="#" class="login-modal">Trigger text here.</a>Is that kind of thing possible, and if so how?
