I’ve just updated the plugin and see that new markup has been added to the default theme:

    <span class=”date” style=””>April 22, 2016</span>

When you change the markup we have to fix clients sites. Why would you do this?

What is this date and why is there no way to disable the date from within wp admin either.

    Hey @bikeman123

In our recent update, we discovered several defaults that have been set incorrectly on initial install, including not showing the Date, the Item Reveiwed, and the Rating of the item. Those items are now displayed by default as they were intended to be. This change will only impact new users and users who had not explicitly set these values before using the options explained in the next paragraph.

You can hide them using the same controls that have always been available. To hide the date via Shortcode, simply add show_date="0". To hide them via the Widget, simply un-check the Date field under “Fields to Display”. Similarly, if you need to hide the Rating or the Item Reviewed these boxes can be found under Fields to Display, as well.

I do apologize for the inconvenience! If you’ve tested this on a development site, before making updates to your live client sites, then just make a note to update that shortcode/widget after performing the update.

    All the best,
    Richard

Also the shortcode generator doesn’t add show_date=”0″ when fields to display ‘show testimonial date’ is unticked.

    Hey @bikeman123

You are correct about the shortcode generator issue, and we have that on our tracker to be patched in our next release.

    Hey @bikeman123!

As of today’s update, version 2.2.3, this issue has been patched. Now, when you have Show Date unchecked in our shortcode generators, show_date=”0″ is correctly added to the shortcode.

Thanks for using our plugin and taking the time to report this issue!

    All the best,
    Richard
