Test Mode Isn’t Working

@dermotmoconnor Also, you’ll need to run another test payment once you’ve re-created the webhook to confirm whether it now works or not.

@dermotmoconnor I also noticed that Apple Pay was not able to create it’s authentication file on your server. That appears to be due to some unusual file permissions on your server. If you send us an email about this, we can work with you further on resolving that. Email [email protected]

There are a few unusual things with your server. Do you mind if I ask who your webhost is? We will attempt to learn more about their system setups, which in this case, are different than typical webhosts.

Created new webhook in test mode

I’m getting emails now though, telling me of attempts (which I wasn’t getting before).

New webhook & test mode up (sorry if double post).

Bluehost is the hosting company.

@dermotmoconnor Good stuff! Now that you’ve set that up, try another test payment to see what happens. Use this test credit card to do that:

Card Number: 4242 4242 4242 4242
Expiry: 12/34
Zip Code: 12345

Once completed, in your WordPress dashboard go to “Tip Jar WP” > “Transactions” and see if all of the data is there!

Ah it looks like your Stripe API Key was recreated, but it’s still set to use an old one. Something must have been leftover when you reconnected. Try disconnecting and reconnecting to Stripe again. (Apologies for these issues! They are very unusual!)

OK, test went! Success with that

Okay great! It looks like you just need to add the “Test” webhook’s signing secret to your WordPress’s Tip Jar WP settings. You may have accidentally entered the test signing secret for the “live” mode. (Webhooks are truly the most difficult part to set up with Stripe, unfortunately there wasn’t anything we could do to simplify this part!)

@dermotmoconnor P.S. you can have your account connected in both “Test” and
“Live” mode at the same time. You do not need to disconnect either one!
