• Hey hey, if i setup the plugin and i use the test mail i receive emails.
However if I then start using contact form 7 it doesn’t…

    Would you know the reason?

I am using office365 as smtp, I have noticed this one can be rather strict. It requires TSL, port 587, user authentication and I also noticed it does only work if the from email is the actual email of my useraccount.

Do you have any idea why your testmails are working and my contact form 7 is not? This is my only blocker into finishing my website ??

  • I know exactly what you mean! Every thread I read is really out of date. I use GoDaddy as my host, have all their latest SMTP info, test emails send perfectly, contact forms won’t!

I’ve spent days on this now, I just want someone to help me ?? – I’ve tried different contact form plugins, settings, you name it, I’ve tried it.

When I first tried the contact form, it worked fine, I then tried to do another test immediately afterwards and it’s never worked since. I didn’t change a thing after the first time it worked yet now it completely refuses to actual send the mail.

Any ideas guys? Like I said, test mail works so I know my SMTP settings are correct :/

Same issue here. 4 months with no response from plugin author…?

    Same issue here…..

Looking at the test logs, it seems I inadvertently sent the test mail using the PHP mail() function and not via SMTP. So the error lies in my SMTP settings and not the form or plugin.

What I didn’t realize, and may be cause for some confusion with other users, is that the test mail sends according to the send mail option settings. So (and this is what got me) it’s not a pre-launch test per se, but a quick test area (rather than having to visit your form page and send from within). Helpful if you have validation, having to fill out added fields, etc. Sot the test area makes sense, just a little confusing. Well, for me anyway ??

Hope this helps others who may have misunderstood the test function.
