    Hello, omegadm.

Thanks for using ScrapeAZon. Unfortunately, the Amazon Product Advertising API currently only supports access by using the root access key/secret key. Therefore, user-specific access keys will not work.

Here’s an Amazon Developer Forums thread on the subject:
    https://forums.aws.amazon.com/message.jspa?messageID=289929#289929

And here’s the current list of Amazon services that support IAM (or user-specific keys):
    https://docs.aws.amazon.com/IAM/latest/UserGuide/Using_SpecificProducts.html

Hope that helps! Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks for update James

It is actually not obvious how to obtain the root keys – Amazon puts up a big warning message saying you should create individual user access and says you should delete the root keys asap.

    see: https://www.advanced-web-metrics.com/aws.png

So the root secret key is not available. The plugin settings are now:
    Access Key – root-key
secret key – from IAM user

And the plugin naturally does not work with this. How can I proceed from here?

    Best regards, Brian

    Hi, Brian.

A while back, Amazon actually restricted the ability to retrieve the root secret key after you first create it. That means you can only view/copy it at its initial creation and you cannot retrieve it after that. The only thing you can do at that point is generate a new root access key/secret key combination.

Upon creation, you should be able to view and copy the new root secret key one time.

I remain hopeful that someday the Product Advertising API will support IAM users.

Thanks again for trying ScrapeAZon and let me know if I can be of further assistance.

OK, recreated the root keys (saved!) and the plugin Test frame page is working.

Unfortunately my actual page does not load any reviews for the following insert:
    [scrapeazon asin=”1118168445″ width=”500″ height=”400″ border=”false” country=”us”]

I have also tried different country codes…

    Any help/pointers much appreciated

    Hi, Brian.

The shortcode you pasted above actually worked for me in my test environment. I see a frame containing 38 reviews, the first of which is a five-star with the subject line of “Must Read for Online Marketing Professionals,”

You might try going to Settings > ScrapeAZon > Performance and clearing the ScrapeAZon cache. If you tested the shortcode prior to having the correct keys configured, ScrapeAZon might have cached blank or incorrect data.

Let me know if that helps.

    That worked ??

I think it would be worth your time i.e. less support email like this(!) if you added a little documentation around the process required to get the keys working.

    Many thanks for your help.

    Hi, Brian.

No problem at all, and I will absolutely take that under advisement.

    Thanks again for using ScrapeAZon!
