Since the update to v1.x, I have been unable to send emails to my complete list of members. I am using plugin WP Mail SMTP to send emails.

When I send a test email from WP Mail SMTP, the test email is sent and received successfully.

When I edit an email, update the contents and save, the modified content is actually saved and the ‘Update’ button swirls and the screen shows ‘Post updated’ but the saved date remains the same. When I select an individual user to email, the email is sent and I receive an onscreen notification of successful send. And the email is received successfully. However, the “Previous Email Sends” history log is not updated and doesn’t show the successful send.

I created a list of 2 users and when I try to send to this list, it is successful. But again, the list of previous sends is not updated.

I have previously (before the recent major update) sent to everyone registered (last email went to 1,307 members). But now when I try to send to all users, the system fails and nothing gets sent. I see “Sending email…” on screen for around 30 seconds and then it disappears. I do not see any error messages but the email no longer gets sent.

    Can somebody please help.

  • Great, is this plugin abandoned?

    Not good.

I have a different issue, but yours is similar.

No need to panic. I believe this user also emailed us about this and we answered there. Just forgot to note that here in a reply. And I just answered your thread. Anyway, if your issue is even slightly different, it’s better to start a new thread.

As for the issue mentioned in this thread, it’s just related to the timeout on the site/server. Sending 1300 emails takes a while… so it’s not at all surprising that your server would time out before completing the task. Turn on debug and/or check the logs on your server to see where it’s failing and what the error message is. Either way, it’s much more practical to divide that up into a few different lists and just send to each separately. Takes a minute longer, but the time you save not waiting, not having it time out, and not wondering if it worked or not, makes up for that at least five fold.

Discussed issue with hosting service who confirmed that sending >1,300 emails should not be an issue and uses minimal processing power. Given the ongoing issues with this plug-in have finally decided to use a different plug-in. Email sent immediately to 1,603 subscribers without issues.
