You need latest php version 5.6 or 5.6 plus for this

what version of your plugin do I use if my webhost doesn’t offer an upgrade to 5.6?

Have you checked the php error logs.

You do one thing open the webriti-smtp-mail.php file, find the function webriti_phpmailer_init_smtp and this line of code at the very last before the function ends $phpmailer->SMTPDebug=1;

SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Connection refused (111) Test email process is failed.

Refer this link and search for 111

111 error code is returned when you enter incorrect settings.

Which smtp host you are using.

smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Also make sure that you are including @yahoo.com in the username.
