I am getting this error, however I know the Credentials are valid as I just copied and pasted the Access key and Secret Access key from my settings in the WP SES plaugin, which is working fine.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

    This error

SMTP ERROR: Password command failed: 535 Authentication Credentials Invalid

    means that credentials are incorrect.

AFAIK, Access key and Secret Access key are not those that are required to use SMTP for SES. WP SES might be using oAuth to login, while SMTP – not. Thus you need to generate separate credentials.

Please follow this official documentation: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/DeveloperGuide/send-email-smtp.html

Thanks, a bit confusing as I thought it would be the same, that would explain why it’s working with WP SES plugin.

I have been scratching my head over the SES documentation, it isn’t as simple as the name implies.

So I have the original SMTP Credentials which are called SMTP username and SMTP Password. Tried those and it works, thanks.
