• I am trying to set up an SMTP service to send email from your client’s website on cheyoga.co.uk. I have used the following info:

    SMTP Host smtp.zoho.com
    Type of Encryption: SSL/TLS
    SMTP Port 465
    SMTP Authentication: yes
    SMTP Username Client’s email address
    SMTP Password Client’s Zoho account password

    But when I run a test email I get the following error log:

    CLIENT -> SERVER: EHLO cheyoga.co.uk
    CLIENT -> SERVER: AUTH LOGIN
    CLIENT -> SERVER: Z2VueUBjaGV5b2dhLmNvLnVr
    CLIENT -> SERVER: cm1hdmVyYTczIUdvQ2hl
    SMTP ERROR: Password command failed: 535 Authentication Failed
    SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.CLIENT -> SERVER: QUIT
    SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.

    Could you advise me as to what is going wrong here?
    Thank you
    Tim

  • Hi,

    SMTP ERROR: Password command failed: 535 Authentication Failed
    SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.CLIENT -> SERVER: QUIT
    SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.

    The above is letting you know the configuration settings entered in the plugin are not accepted. You will need to contact the host and ask them to assist you.

    You can also try the following troubleshooting tips smtp-connect-failed-error-read-before-posting.

    Let me know how you go.

    Thank you
