My test, diagnostics, welcome and newsletter messages are OK. But confirmation messages are not sent. Not from Subscription widget, nor from Subscribers control panel.

Tried different e-mail addresses, same problem. Spam/Junk mail folder is empty. I couldn’t anything in the log set to debug level:

    27-06-2014 14:57:11 - DEBUG - 28.5 MB - Replace start
    27-06-2014 14:57:11 - DEBUG - 28.6 MB - Replace end

    27-06-2014 14:57:11 - DEBUG - 28.6 MB - Replace end
    27-06-2014 14:57:11 - DEBUG - 28.6 MB - mail> To: [email protected]
    27-06-2014 14:57:11 - DEBUG - 28.6 MB - mail> Subject: Please confirm subscription - newsletter

The e-mail address above is modified for privacy reasons.
    What could be the problem?

There is a set of extra entries in the log:

For now my only choice go get users subscribed is Single Opt In. It works, the users are receiving “Welcome aboard” messages, but there is no confirmation message in the user mailbox when I set Double Opt option.

The logs confirms the email has been sent so there is other reason external to your blog that block the delivery.

For example the content of the confirmation email. Have you customized it? Try to set on main configuration the base 64 encoding.

Edit: You are right, the problem was the header of the confirmation message:
Please confirm subscription - {blog_title} newsletter

It looks like the service provider just blocks the message with this header if it contains the key word “subscription”.

Hence the problem is both during a regular subscription and when the resend confirmation button is pressed?

Actually, since I’m on holiday, I cannot check the code for errors, but at least the subscription with confirmation process should work.

Can you send the url of your blog where I can try the subscription? Of course the double opt-in must be enabled.

    Stefano:

Sorry for the confusion. I have modified my previous post to reflect the new findings. Obviously the cause of the problem was the word “subscription” in the message header. I replaced the header
Please confirm subscription - {blog_title} newsletter
    with
    {blog_title} newsletter - please confirm
    and it works now.

Thank you and have a wonderful vacation!
