Test and client emails send, admin mail does not

Hi there,
I have configured the calendar to use PHPMailer for both user and admin. I have successfully sent a test email to the admin’s email address.
I have enabled notify user and notify admin on booking request.
When I put a booking into the calendar, an email is sent to the user, the booking is added to the approval-pending list in the back end – but no email is sent to the admin address, the same one that successfully received a test.
The documentation is a little thin on this part. :o)
Any idea how to troubleshoot this?
