• Occasionally a free plugin really, really impresses me. This is one of those plugins.

It’s simple and easy to setup and get working to display videos from your YouTube channel anywhere on your WordPress website…..I didn’t even really need the documentation but the tutorial is very well done and easy to follow for those who are still new to using WordPress and/or plugins.

One caveat, it isn’t entirely clear that if you have unlisted or private videos that you don’t want displayed, you DO need to go thru the steps to get an API key from Google/YouTube, but that was also well-documented and easy to get thru in just a few steps, with the API key the feed will show only Public videos from your channel.

The plugin does offer some very nice additional features in the premium version, but the Free version is very complete, robust, and works very well. Easily meets my (high) standards for a 5-star review.

    Hey @trisham,

Thank you for your very kind review, we are very happy to hear that the plugin meets your standards!

As for the unlisted and private videos showing without an API Key, do you have any thoughts on how this would have been more clear to you? Your additional feedback would be greatly appreciated as we are always looking for ways to improve our plugins.

    Many thanks.

    Hey Joel, yes absolutely!

On the configuration tab, where an API key can be entered I would add something to this sentence:

Entering an API key is optional but recommended. It allows the plugin to fetch older videos and prevents potential disruption in your feed. It only takes a few minutes: Get my API key

Maybe “…fetch older videos, filter out unlisted/private videos, and prevents potential…”

I only figured it out by searching this support forum where I found an older Post here that specified that answer (adding an API Key) to the problem (unlisted videos showing in feed) that I was having. So I added the API key and all is perfect now.

I do think that the vast majority of YouTube users likely only have Public videos so this is only a problem for a minority of plugin users, but making it a tad clearer in the configuration overview would be helpful.

The plugin itself works terrifically well, kudos!!

    Hey @trisham,

Thank you for your valuable feedback, we will definitely look into making this clearer as the API Key is already the recommended way to connect to YouTube. We are currently working on a large overhaul of the backend interface (such as we have already done for our Facebook and Instagram Feed plugins), so it is the perfect opportunity to look into things that could be made easier to understand for our users.

Many thanks once again and I wish you a great day ahead.
