• Plugin really slowed my site down. It was taken ages to get from one page to another. Once uninstalled everything works fine. Google page rank got higher though. I will test it in the future with different websites but it didn’t do anything good at the moment.

    did you run AO with a page caching plugin globalknow as advised globalknow? and did you do some troubleshooting to try to identiy what was slowing things down (CSS or JS optimization)? always happy to assist!

    Hey Frank
    Yes I did run the page caching plugin. As I promised I have even tested with my other sites. With very simple one AO used 9 gigs of space for caching. It was faster though but it stopped working when it didn’t have any more free space. I had no luck with other sites. They mostly slowed down. I tried using two different caching plugins: W3 and WP super cache.

    Morning Peter;
    Let’s break this down a bit;
    1. cache size typically grows to humongous proportions if you have page (or request-)specific JS (or CSS) in them as explained in the FAQ. have a look there or at this sticky forum post to see how to solve that.
    2. if there indeed is page or request-specific JS/CSS, that also causes a significant slowdown, as there is no cached JS/CSS to be reused. so the solutions from (1) will also help here.
    3. if you have a page caching plugin, the time to first byte for the first request will still be higher, but after that it really should fly.

    lastly; the time to minify (CSS and JS) can indeed be a concern and for the upcoming AO 2.0 the average time for that will go down significantly (around 30% in my tests). more info on that upcoming version in this forumpost and in the commit log on github.

    hope this helps,
    frank
