I have been using the Newsletter for about 3 months now and find it just too difficult to deal with anymore. The newsletter was highly recommended but it has a block editor, does not allow a selectable default font (always reverts to Verdana 11) what you see is NOT what you get,(WYSIWYG-NOT) does not copy format when cutting and pasting an MS-Word blog, tried to use the Classic Editor for the Newsletter but it can’t.

If you can put up with a block editor, changing the font to one you want EVERY TIME, changing spacing between paragraphs and then, after you have your newsletter looking the way you want it, hit save and preview, do it all over again because WYSI(N)WYG, good luck.

I have had it and am looking for a newsletter that works more like MS-Word.

  • Tom, sorry you’re not getting the desired settings. Personally, I run the other way when it comes to the screwy formatting of Word. Yikes. It’s horrible. It’s the worst. Forget the fonts and formatting. It does not translate outside Word.

Fair enough but we are not talking about how various word processors handle text, images, fonts, and text alignment.

I may be wrong but is there a word processor that uses blocks?

As bad and as proprietary MS-Word is, it is light years ahead of a block editor.

Do you know of any news letter plugins that do not use a block editor? That would be the first step.

    Thanks

Think I found a newsletter plugin that does not a block editor – WPNewsman Lite.

Will give it a try and post a review.

Hi, you can use the block editor or the visual editor: selected the blank theme instead of using the block editor.

Hi, Newsletter is provided with two editors. The block editor which grants an almost perfect layout in different email clients (you know, email clients need tabled content and so on) and a “visual editor” like the one on WP.

If you create a newsletter using the blank template, the visual editor is used and you can edit the newsletter freely.

Of course, you know, copying and pasting from Word to create web content is not recommended, and if you want to use copy and past from Word to create newsletter content, this is even worse.

    Stefano.

Agree, Word is a horrible solution for any content creator. It just causes problems. I use a simple text editor – BBEdit myself. Let WordPress and the Plugin do the formatting for you. It’s not bad really.

If I’m not in the right area, please forgive me and feel free to post this wherever it’s relevant! I’m a Writer of a motorsports blog. Has anyone else experienced writing a post only to have the right hand side of the Block Editor edit panel disappear? Split down the middle, although the right sidebar still functions. Almost like there’s a second missing column? I can’t find anywhere else to ask a question. And when I am able to publish a post, the layout bears little resemblance to my original draft. How do I change fonts? I know nothing about coding. But I do know what I’m currently experiencing is turning me off my website. Someone please help!
