• I mainly wanted to use VaultPress to migrate my website. The first attempt failed and then I asked for support via email. The people were friendly enough and sounded like they knew what they were doing but whatever they did not only did not migrate the site but it broke my live site. It took me days to get it back to working.

After my website was finally fixed what I wound uyp doing was using UpDraftPlus and their migration add on. It was easy and worked flawlessly. The cost was more than VaultPress but it’s a bargain if I cound the hours of trobleshooting and fixing with VaultPress. I have migrated two sites now with UpDraftPlus and I would highly recommend this method for migration.

  • I personally have had nothing but problems with using Updraft. And none whatsoever with Vaultpress. I initially trusted Vaultpress because the parent company, Automattic, is the company behind the development of WordPress. Although it is a ‘Community’ and many people help with development, The original developer and founder and the man who suggested the name “wordpress” was Matt Mullenweg. Automattic Inc. is a web development corporation which is most known for putting together WordPress.com, and, of course, its contributions to WordPress. The company’s name, Automattic, is a play on its founder’s first name, Matt. That would be Matt Mullenweg, who, once again, is one of the two original founder/developers of the WordPress CMS. THe only times I have had problems with restore was when I was still using Updraft. And the only time anyone screwed up my site during migration was when I “upgraded” my account with my host at the time, Bluehost, after they had been bought out by EIG. They totally broke my site and it took me a week, everyday, trying to get my site back up, and after all of that they compensated me a whole one hundred dollars for losing weeks if not months, of work. My site was nothing like it was before migration and I had to essentially rebuild. I have never had any problems with Vaultpress.
