I just noticed that all of my Terms of Agreement wording has mysteriously and completely been wiped out from my EDD settings.

Is this something that was perhaps caused when I put in either the most recent EDD plugin update in July or the Stripe Payment Gateway extension update from August 4?

That text took ages to write and there were lots of revisions made by my lawyer and now it is gone. I had an older revision of it saved, but not certain what I have saved is the latest version that was on the site. Wow.

Yes, I should have had a text file backup, but my site is basked up daily so I figured I was good. The problem is unless the text disappeared with 48 hours for some reason (which is unlikely) then it wouldn’t be in my site backup.

Anyway, what else might have gotten changed or disappeared in my EDD settings please when this happened?

I just noticed something else strange in my EDD settings. It was showing contact email addresses from another one of my sites that I had created recently that is also now running EDD.

In fact, I had used the WP Clone plugin to copy this site that has the original EDD setup installed on it and then placed the close onto the new site and then reconfigured it on the new site with the email addresses and settings I wanted for the new site.

So what looks like might have happened is perhaps that the EDD settings that I made on the new site, which is the site that was copied from my existing site with EDD, are now reflected in the settings also on my older existing site with EDD.

Is this something that EDD does when an EDD install is copied from one site to another? Meaning, did it change my settings on my old site by itself to match the setting changes I made on my new site after I made a clone from my old site? Is that even possible? It wouldn’t seem so, but it looks like that is what might have happened somehow because that would explain why the old site lost its Terms of Agreement wording and had email contact addresses of that of the new site.

If so, then how can I decouple the two sites now so that if I make EDD settings changes to one site that it doesn’t effect the other site?

It sounds like the WP Clone plugin didn’t copy all of the settings properly. Why that is, I really can’t say, sorry.

There isn’t anything in the update process that could have caused the settings to be lost.

Your best option would be to restore from a backup of the site.
