Tennis Statistics Not Showing Up

  • I have a recreational tennis league website up and running and it’s using SportsPress. Recently, I’ve had some issues regarding the total stats ever since the end of the 2015 season.

    The main issue is that the statistics from my player profile page isn’t updating. See this screenshot: https://ibb.co/inRw5k
    It is very strange because the wins, losses, etc are being captured just fine on the Standings page as seen in this screenshot: https://ibb.co/e4RJJ5
    Why would the numbers not also be listed on the total stats for each player?

    A little about my initial setup:
    I chose Tennis as my sport under the Settings > General tab in SportsPress. I then created each player under the Players section (as opposed to a team). Matches are under events and I created league tables, players lists, etc, all of which seem to be working just fine.

    I did play around a little bit with teams vs. players. When I made each player a team instead of a player, this seemed to help with the stat showing up. But I shouldn’t have to redo ALL of the players in the league (switching them from a player to a team)…this seems to not be the solution, at least I hope not.

    I’m hoping someone can offer a suggestion so that I can fix this issue that has gone on for some time now!

    I believe the problem is regarding the teams vs players indeed.

    Please kindly send us links to pages that are / aren’t working so we can see some examples.

    I would rather not release the URL (to help protect the people of the league) of the website unless you absolutely need it. Or is there a way for me to send the URL privately to you? Hope you understand.

    The screenshots I provided show you a window as to what is going on and would be the URLs I would send you anyway.

    From my test it did seem like if I switched everyone over to a team instead of a player, it would work…but this is an IMMENSE amount of work and don’t know why things changed all of a sudden, especially if tennis is an option under the settings tab. Is there a workaround so that I don’t have to redo everything?

    Hello again, I’ve been trying to find a remedy with the way I have the site set up now, but no solution yet.

    The way I have it now, with no teams and just players and each event being player vs. player doesn’t seem to work fully.

    • The home vs. away feature it totally out the window, as when I select each player from the player list, it just alphabetizes it. So my name starting with a B will always be before someone with J, even if they are the home team. and no matter if I choose them first from the players field. This makes it so the events don’t display properly.
    • I am able to see the stats updated from the score of the match in my standings table
    • Not able to see the stats updating in the overall stats window for player profile page, as you have seen in the screenshot above

    So I thought I would add two teams (which are really two players) as a test and then on the event page, select team vs. team (instead of player vs player) – to see if that would work.

    • Let’s me establish who home team is
    • Have redundant player and team names
    • Doesn’t update on standings page

    I don’t know where to go from here, and the league is about to start. Used to be working just fine, but now I am so confused at where to turn.

    Thanks for your reply and thanks for testing.

    We really would need to look at your page to have a better idea. Just the screenshots aren’t giving us much information about the issue.

    Unfortunately there is no way private comunication chanel as this is against the WP’s forum guidelines.

    One idea is creating a new test site with no data, then you can add just a few event examples to see how it behaves. It’s very likely that some of your old data is affecting your site and doing a new test site will help you getting a feel of how it should work in general.

    Hi Roch,
    Thanks for your efforts. I decided to change the format of the events from player vs player to team vs. team, which meant I had to change quite a few other details manually in order to get it right. But now that the hard work is over, I have the site working the way I want it to. And also figured out some automation in the process. So all in all, a win.

    And I’ll keep in mind with rolling back to another version if I run into issues in the future.
