• Hi guys,

I just got my WordPress site working with a temporary URL, but now I’m wondering how do I view my media / pages / blog posts while I build my website? (I know I’ll see it all later when I redirect everything to the real URL)

I can get into the admin panel of my site with no trouble, and view the front page of my theme.. but I can’t see any other pages because of 404s. Any tips on how to work around this would be great! ??

    Thanks,
    M

  • have you tried checking your dashboard > pages > your page > then view page?
If it’s not working maybe you have a problem on permalink or .htaccess

Yep! Tried to view the page by itself and it says 404 Not Found.

Just went into the htaccess file and set the permissions at 777. My WordPress Permalinks settings still say the file is not rewritable though, and is asking me to manually update it.

However, when I pull up the file to manually update the code it’s already showing the changes WordPress is asking me to make. So the file has been updated, but WordPress isn’t seeing the change (and is still asking me to change it).
