Temporary Removal of Help Content
-
Version 8 delivered use of the WP admin Help tab and “i” lettered icons which displayed help when clicked. This approach is being upgraded to something a little more special and efficient for the long term. At some point the Help icons and help tab may vanish from the plugin while a transition is happening.
This week I took the approach further and developed a system for help content and documentation management. Any support content I create will begin on the WebTechGlobal website where I have a plugin to aid this process. The plugin generates the PHP array required to insert into my CSV 2 POST and add some of the help content as found on the site. Not all though. Just enough to help will be added for every feature and more detailed tutorials can only be viewed by visiting WebTechGlobal. The generated array contains links and video URL also.
In short some help text, a link and video can be added to any feature in CSV 2 POST (eventually all my plugins) without having to type the help content twice.
